Abstract

669,944. Bed-settees. VI-SPRING PRODUCTS, Ltd., and NEWBORN, J. T. Sept. 4, 1950. [Sept. 14, 1949] No. 23745/49. Class 52 (ii). A seat, settee, &c. of the kind in which the back may be rotated from normal position into a horizontal position where it serves as bed or bunk, the back portion 2 is supported for pivoted movement above the level of the seat 1. As shown the back portion 2 provided with a spring squab and with a spring rear face is carried by two swing links 16 from pivots 18 arranged on the support 15. The lower end of the back portion is provided with rollers 21 adapted to be guided, when the back portion is being moved to bed &c. position, by a cam guide 22 so that the back portion 2 moves somewhat forwardly over the seat and finally rearwardly so that the rollers 21 move into a channel or recess at the upper ends of the cam guides. A second portion similar to the back portion 2 may be provided vertically above the portion 2 so that a two tier bunk may be obtained.
