Abstract

669,825. Centrifugal separators. COMPAGNIE SALINIERE DE LA CAMARGUE.. June 23, 1948 [June 24, 1947; June 3, 1948], Nos. 16827/48 and 16828/48. Class 23 [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] In apparatus for conveying a pulverulent material in a liquid stream, e.g. salt in brine, (see Group XXVIII), the mixture is conveyed to a centrifugal separator comprising a casing having a tangential opening g<1> and a central pipe m having an inlet fitted with guide blades. The pipe m also has secured to it a conical strainer n and is supported by a rod p carried by counterweights p<3>. The materials collected on the strainer eventually overcome the counterweights and the strainer is lowered so that the material falls through an annular opening. The pipe m has a nozzle m<3> so that the flow assists in withdrawing the liquid that has drained from the strainer. In a modification, the strainer is in the form of a basket guided on the pipe m and supported by counterweights.
