Abstract

669,728. Indicating liquid levels. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. June 14, 1950, No. 14868/50. Class 123 (i). A liquid-level indicator for a tank &c. comprises a float 12 which is mounted on an arm 10 adapted to pivot about a fixed point 11 within the tank and an indicator rod 13 which is pivoted to the arm 10 near the point 11 and extends through the top of the tank where it is fitted with a cross arm 6, the latter projecting through opposed slots 5, 5<SP>1</SP> in a calibrated dome 2 located on top of the tank and being rigidly attached to an indicator ring 7 encircling said dome. Preferably the dome 2 is secured to a base-plate 1 which is mounted on top of the tank, is fitted with a depending rod 9 to which the float arm 10 is pivoted, and may be provided with an annular flange 17, surrounding the guiding hole for the rod 13, to prevent rainwater, &c. entering the tank; as shown, the dome 2 has a drainage hole 18. The areas 19, 20 of the dome, Fig. 3, may be coloured white and red respectively and the ring 7, say, black.
