Abstract
Partially deactivated catalyst which has been used in repeated hydrocarbon cracking and regeneration operations is revivified to improve its activity and selectivity by treatment with a small amount of an inorganic non-vaporizable fluoride of an alkaline earth or alkali metal. Synthetic silica, alumina, or magnesia gel catalysts or acid-treated bentonites are treated with 0.1-5 per cent of the fluorides of calcium, barium, lithium, potassium, or strontium, either by dry mixing or by impregnation with a solution of the fluoride. Alternatively the solid fluoride may be mixed at 450 DEG -600 DEG F. with the hydrocarbon feed to a cracking process, or may be added to the make-up catalyst. Specifications 661,447 and 671,629 are referred to.
