Abstract

Regeneration of an oxidation catalyst containing the oxides of phosphorus and molybdenum either in chemical combination or otherwise is effected by treating it with water or aqueous ammonia and then drying. The catalyst may be supported on silica gel and is suitable for the oxidation of n. butene to maleic acid. Specifications 688,033 and 693,904 are referred to.
