Abstract

1,135,247. Catalyst blocks. INSTYTUT CHIMII OGOLNEJ. 14 Dec., 1965 [14 Dec., 1964], No. 53084/65. Heading B1E. A catalyst block for use in gas phase chemical reactions is made by extruding mineral material in the form of threads, interlacing the threads and allowing them to stick together at the crossing points to form a coherent body and drying or calcining the body. In examples blocks are made from (1) diatomaceous earth, V 2 O 5 , K 2 CO 3 , K 2 SiO 3 and water (2) Fe 2 O 3 and Cr 2 O 3 . Additional ingredients mentioned are starch, clay and glue.
