Abstract
<PICT:0668894/IV (c)/1> A reversible rotary pump, having one or more rotors each having a length much greater than its diameter, is arranged to circulate liquor in a wet-processing machine such as is used for dyeing. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement, the pump having co-acting rotors 12 on shafts 20, which may be geared together, the pump circulating liquor through the upper part of a perforated screen 6, passing downwards through hanks or packages of yarn 5. The pump may be positioned inside the tank 1 and the relative position of the rotors may be adjusted by angular movement of one of the external gears on its shaft. The pumps may be of the Roots blower or rotary abutment types. Each rotor may be constructed of cast vanes bolted to a hub, the rotor, Fig. 4 (not shown), being in two halves, or the vanes may be of bent sheet metal welded to a hub. In another form the rotor is built up in laminated fashion. The rotor shafts may be arranged vertically.
