668,213. Closets; bedpans. LEVIN, I. Oct. 12, 1949. No 26252/49. Class 26. [Also in Group XXVIII] A dual purpose water closet comprises a stationary trap, a stationary flush valve, .a portable toilet bowl having discharge means for waste and flush water and a flush water receiving, circulating and distributing channel, flexible conduits communicating between the trap and the discharge means and the flush valve and the channel. As shown, a flat bowl 34, eggshaped in plan, is mounted on a pair of uprights 21 and has attached to its deeper end a flexible conduit 58 comprising a waste pipe and a flush water pipe, the former being connected to a stationary trap 60 and the latter to an elevated flush valve 64. The bowl may be used in the raised position, shown in full lines, as a bedpan, and in the lowered position, shown dotted, as a toilet. The bowl may merely rest on the base and be raised manually for use as a bedpan. An additional seat 30 for use in the lowered position may be kept in a rack at the side. A cord 66 having a finger ring 70 at one end is connected to the flush valve for easy remote operation. The flush water is directed towards the outlet by a series of jets 40,' 90, 91, Fig. 7. The bowl has a cover 41 having a circular hole into which is fitted a ring-like frame which accommodates a seating annulus which may be rotated through 180 degrees and maintained in position by a latch.
