Abstract
668,155. Ground augers. LISTER, R. W. Sept. 13, 1950. No. 22493/50. Class 85. In a post hole boring apparatus, the gear head of the auger B is pivotally supported at O in the forked ends of an arm E slidably mounted in a sleeve F pivotally secured on a jib G. The sleeve F is also pivotally secured to a lifting arm H which, like the jib G, is pivotally mounted on a self-propelled vehicle. Rotation of the arm H by the crank M and the pitman rod J causes vertical movement of the arm E and the auger unit, and, to maintain the auger unit on the same vertical axis during this vertical movement, there is provided a link N, pivotally connected at the ends to the jib G and arm E, the link N causing an appropriate lateral displacement of the arm E within the sleeve F on rotation of the arm H about the pivotal connection on the vehicle body.
