Abstract
667,296. Photo-electric exposure meters. ILFORD, Ltd. June 14, 1950 [May 16, 1949], No. 13013/49. Class 40 (iii). [Also in Groups XX and XL (c)] In a relay circuit using a thyratron valve in which a variable control voltage is applied to the control electrode of the thyratron, an auxiliary circuit supplies pulses of voltage to this control electrode so that the valve fires before the control voltage reaches a value which is sufficient to' cause undesired grid current loading of the control circuit. Fig. 10 shows a circuit for operating a relay A when the intensity of light falling on a photo-electric cell V2 reaches a predetermined value. The rectified voltage across capacitor C4 is differentiated by network C2, R1 so that positive voltage pulses are applied to the grid of thyratron V1 and are added to the increasing voltage which appears across resistor R3 with increasing current flow in the photo-electric cell V2 so that at a predetermined voltage valve V1 conducts and relay A operates.
