Abstract

666,322. Reamers. VICTORY ENGINEERS, Ltd., and FISHWICK, R. Jan. 10, 1949 [April 12, 1948], No. 10114/48. Class 83 (iii). An expanding reamer for blind or open holes comprises a number of separate blades j and an adjustment means for moving the blades up to a limit stop against the resistance of a resilient means for moving them in the opposite direction. The blades j are received in inclined slots c in the head of the reamer and each has a projection i having straight or inclined edges against which bears the head h of an adjustment screw g. A washer k may be interposed between the head h and the adjacent walls of the projections i. A spring p, in a bore in the reamer head, presses the projections i against the washer k when the screw g has been released, to move the ends of the blades away from an adjustment sleeve e which is in threadedengagement with the head. The sleeve e may then be adjusted according to a scale thereon and a mark on the shank a of the reamer, and the screw tightened to lock the blades against the sleeve e or a sleeve m disposed between the sleeve e and blades.
