Abstract
665,052. Fusible cut-outs. E.M.P. ELECTRIC Ltd., and MILES, W. W. J. Sept. 20, 1950 [Sept 20, 1949], No. 24167/49. Class 38 (i). To obviate the effects of expansion and contraction on the liquidtightness of a cartridge fuse, the outer container 5 has grooves 17 in which resilient rings 18 are sealed by canneluring covers 15 on the end caps 7 to the container. Preferably the container is narrowed at each end to provide a thread 6 for the end-cap which is secured to the cover at 16 and the fusible element 1 on a ceramic carrier 2 is connected at one end to a sleeve 3 which is engaged by a boss 9 on a conducting disc 8 inserted between the container and an end-cap 7. The disc and the container are separated by a sealing washer 13 which accommodates the radial expansion and contraction of the container. The container is made preferably of oil-resistant resin-fabric and the sealing rings of oil-resistant rubber. The external surface of the container may be rubberized.
