Abstract

664,601. Electrolytic cells. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 20, 1950 [Feb. 7, 1949], No. 3308/49. Addition to 627,349. Class 41. The electrolytic cell as described and claimed in the parent Specification is provided with a flexible cover 1 for the cell, the anode-supporting rods 7 passing through holes in the cover and being sealed thereto. As shown, the rods 7 are formed with shoulders on which rest joint-rings 8 engaged by the under-surface of the cover 1, similar joint-rings being located between the upper surface of the cover and metal coverdomes 11. The assembly is held tight by means of nuts 12 screwed into rods 13 fixed in the rods 7. The cover 1 may be corrugated near the rods 7, as shown. In a modification the jointrings are held in place by rings screwing on to the threaded ends of the anode-supporting rods.
