Abstract

664,585. Engine assisted bicycles and luggage carriers. POTTS, F. C. (Victoria- Werke Akt-Ges.). Nov. 19, 1949, No. 29675/49. Classes 79(iii) and 136(i) An auxiliary engine is mounted on a bicycle by means of one of the two struts of an engine attachment means in the form of a carrier being divided and the interruption being bridged by the engine. the ends of the struts being supported on the rear axle of the bicycle. As shown the carrier is formed of a frame 13, a U-shaped member R secured to the frame 13 by clamps 11, 12, and a part 3. The end 10 of the strut 9 forming part of the member 8 and the end 2 of the part 3 are secured to the rear axle 1 of the bicycle and the end 6 of the member 8 and the end 4 of the part 3 are bridged by the engine 5 which is drivingly connected by a chain 20 to the axle 1. The fuel tank 16 of the engine is mounted on the frame 13 of the carrier and a flat surface 18 of the tank can carry luggage which is secured in position by a spring urged clamp 19.
