Classes 20(ii) and 87(i) A panel adjustable for length for use as a building unit or in shuttering comprises two members 4, 5, Figs. I and V telescoping into one another, providing a common face 3 and reinforced by ribs 11 which also telescope into one another. In each part 4, 5 the crests of the ribs are welded to the plate 8 forming the face 3 and to a back plate 17 except in the telescoping region where the plate 8 of member 4 is separated from the ribs to provide a gap in which the plate 8 of the member 5 can slide. Similarly, the back plate 17 of the member .5 is separated from the ribs to provide a gap in which the plate 17 of the member 4 can slide. The borders of the plates 8 are flanged back at three sides to provide longitudinal grooves 15 and welded to the back plate 17 except in the telescoping region where a gap is left in the part 4 to allow sliding of the part 5. Adjustment of the length of the common face 3 may be effected by moving the members 4, 5 by means of a screw mechanism 38 rotatable in blocks 39, 40. The panel may be used with non-telescopic panels 42, Fig. VIII (not shown), waling strips 44, and corner members 45, 46, to form wall shuttering, or the unit may be of curved formation, Figs. XIV and XV (not shown) for use in casting silos &c. in situ. Such curved units may be constructed to telescope vertically. Fig. IX shows shuttering for casting beams comprising two trough-shaped members 60, 61 engaging each other telescopically to allow adjustment for length. Fig. XI (not shown) shows a modification providing adjustment for width of a cast beam for casting beams in situ. A further embodiment, Fig. XIII, shows shuttering for casting pillars of various cross sections formed of four L-shaped corner members 70 adjustable towards or away from each other.
