Abstract

664,405. Sectional huts. UNIT CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd. July 12, 1949 [July 12, 1948], No. 18695/48. Classes 20 (i) and 20(iv) A substantially circular sectional hut comprises rectangular wall panels 1, Fig. 1 or 15, Fig. 7 and triangular roof panels 2, Fig. 1 or 16, Fig. 6, all of the panels, which may be of aluminium, having side flanges at angles greater than 90 degrees with respect to the panels so that upon assembly adjoining parts of adjacent panels can be secured together in face-to-face abutting relationship whilst on dismantling the panels can be tightly nested for storage &c. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the panels 1 have similar side flanges 5, adjacent panels being secured together by bolts 8 passing through the abutting flanges. The roof panels 2 have similar upturned flanges 10, Fig. 4, abutting flanges being secured together by bolts 11, Fig. 1, and covered by channel section sealing strips 3. The wall panels 1 also have base flanges 6 and inturned flanges at their upper edges which are secured to the roof panels 2 by bolts 9. Wire mats resting on the roof panels may carry insulating material for protection against the sun, and sealing strips may be provided for the wall panel joints. In another plan shown in Fig. 7, the wall panels 15 each have one side flange 17 outturned with a marginal bent portion 20 but the opposite side flange 18 is in-turned through a small angle and is adapted to abut against the inner face of the adjacent panel and is secured thereto by bolts 19 The flange 17 in this form serves as a stiffening member only. The roof panels 16, Fig. 6, have similar side flanges 25 and are disposed with the flanges 25 facing in opposite directions, abutting flanges being secured together by bolts 26. In erecting the hut a temporary support in the form of a telescopic pole having a disc-like platform near its upper end is erected at the centre of the site and after erection of the wall panels, the roof panels are placed with their inner ends resting on the platform and are then secured to the wall panels. Alternatively, each wall panel is secured to a roof panel before being up-ended, the partially erected hut being self-supporting after assembling, e.g. three composite sections.
