Abstract

664,368. Reservoir brush, bristles fixing. MUREAU, C. A. Aug. 9, 1948, No. 20985. Class 19 A make-up applicator and liquid container is characterised in that the applicator comprises an internally threaded tubular body provided at one end with a reduced forward end portion presenting an inwardly facing shoulder, and a brush unit carried by said end portion said brush unit having a flange seated on said shoulder, said liquid container comprising an elongated body in threaded engagement with the other end of said tubular body and forming a liquid carrying chamber closed at its inner end and closed at its outer end by a removable cap, material being fed to the brush by forcing the material out of said applicator onto said brush by turning said container in said applicator. As shown the brush unit 12 is carried by the reduced forward end portion 11 of the applicator A and a removable cap 13 is provided to house the brush. The portion 11 has an inner shoulder 18 and the brush holder 20 has a flange 20a at its inner end which abuts the shoulder 18. The bristles are carried in a central opening 23 and are retained in the holder by a tubular core 22 provided at its inner end with an outwardly projecting flange 28 which overlies the flange 20a. The liquid carrier B may carry nail polish, perfume, or other liquid, and its inner end is closed by a head 41 which serves as a ram head for operating on the material carried in the applicator A. The outer end of the liquid carrier has a neck portion 43 having an opening 44 and a cap 45 may be in threaded engagement with the neck. The cap 45 may carry an implement for handling the liquid in the carrier B. Thus when it is intended to carry perfume in the carrier B a rose 47 is provided, agitation causing the rod to be wetted with perfume when the cap is in place. The entire device may be plated with a coating of protective and decorative material, e.g. with gold plating, the individual parts being advantageously plated prior to their assembly.
