Abstract

664,235. Gas filters. POWER-GAS CORPORATION, Ltd., and ASHMAN, R. Dec. 1, 1949, No. 30841/49. Class 8 (ii) In a gas filter comprising a plurality of cells each housing a plurality of fabric filter bags and surmounting a hopper having a dust-laden gas inlet 81 Fig. 24, each cell is made up of standard panels viz., bottom panels 31 having apertures 32 to receive the open ends of the inverted filter bags and being of width equal to that of end panels 57, 63 also that of roof panels 67, and side panels 41, 45, 54, 56 having apertures 42, 46 to receive gas outlets and inspection doors respectively ; the panel 45 also being adapted to receive bag shaking mechanism 89. Each hopper comprises flanged end panels 73, a side panel 78 and a side panel 80 having a manhole 83 and the gas inlet 81. The panels have flanges by which they are secured together by bolts or U-shaped clamps, and end panels 57, 63 Fig. 22 form partitions between adjacent cells. The bag cleaning mechanism not shown comprises cranked shafts mounted in bearings in opposite side panels of each cell and from which the bags are suspended. The shafts are rocked on closing the gas outlet 42 of the particular cell being cleaned. The cells are cleaned in either continuous or interrupted sequence. Up to at least thirty-five different forms and sizes of plant may be constructed from two forms of standard bottom panels, seven forms of standard side panels, four forms of end and two of roof panels, and two hopper end and three hopper side panels.
