Abstract

663,106. Endless conveyer belts. EVANS. L. W. April 12, 1950. [April 12, 1949] No. 9904/49. Class 78 (i). A conveyer belt is built up of a series of rigid slats hinged to one another, each slat comprising an upper member with a lower member secured thereto serving as a reinforcing member, the adjacent ends of the members of succeeding slats being shaped so as to grip between them the ends of a strip of flexible material, the said strip being positioned between the upper and lower members of these slats so as to serve as a hinge connecting the slats. As shown, an endless conveyer floor for a vehicle comprises metal slats each consisting of sections c. d and connected together by hinges consisting of moulded strips i of rubber formed with ribs slidably engaging in the recesses formed between the undersides of the ends of adjacent sections c and the parts g of the corresponding sections d. The strips i have slightly convex upper surfaces so that contact is maintained with the lower face of the section c as the conveyer passes round a pulley or roller so as to form a seal and prevent the entry of material under the section c.
