A dispensing container for condiments or other powdered or granular materials comprises a plunger valve 6a located in an aperture 2a in a base 2 and movable therethrough, by pressure on a button 7, to eject powder collected around a circumferential groove 6c or to allow the contents to escape in a stream through an axial groove 6e in the valve head. The container 1, which is transparent, is closed by a base 2 and cap 3 and the valve 6a is held closed by a spring 5.
