Abstract

662,539. Modulating systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 23, 1949 [Dec. 9, 1948], No. 31907/48. Class 40 (v). The invention relates to radio transmitters, of the kind shown in Fig. 1, in which phasemodulated waves are fed to the grids of valves V1, V2, the anodes of which are connected through quarter-wave lines or networks N1, N2 to a common aerial or other load R, to produce an amplitude-modulated wave therein. In order that the anodes of the valves may be substantially free from mutual coupling through the supply circuits, various modifications of the de-coupling circuits are provided. In one arrangement separate similar HT sources are provided for the respective valves. In another arrangement, a common H.T. source is connected through parallel-resonant circuits replacing the chokes CH1, CH2. Alternatively, the chokes and byepass condensers BC1, BC2 are retained, but an additional impedance or filter is provided between the H.T. source and at least one of the chokes. In a further circuit, Fig. 2, the common H.T. source is connected to the anodes through one or more parallel-tuned circuits PT and through the inductances of the networks N1, N2; and a blocking condenser BK is interposed between the circuit PT and the load R.
