Abstract
403,425. Valve modulating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, and PRICE, T. H., 17, Sandford Road, Chelmsford. June 20, 1932, No. 17459. [Class 40 (v).] A modulation system comprises a push-pull pair of high-frequency valves with no centrepoint tapping to the tuned circuit connecting the anodes, the high tension and the modulating potentials being applied to the anode circuit of each valve through high frequency chokes. As shown in Fig. 1, the carrier wave is amplified by a pushpull pair of valves V1, V2 the tuned output circuit 5 being connected through condensers 7, 8 between the two anodes. The HT supply leads to the anodes include separate highfrequency chokes 9, 10 and a common speechfrequency choke 12, which latter is also in the plate feed circuit of the valve V3. Modulating- voltage is applied to the grid of the valve V3. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the choke 12 is omitted, and the modulating-valve V3 is connected in series with the carrier amplifiers V1, V2, a high-frequency choke being connected between the cathodes of the valves V1, V2 and the anode of the valve V3.
