Abstract

662,221. Ferries; rudders. ALDOUS SUCCESSORS, Ltd, and CAREY, H. C. Aug. 21, 1950 [Oct. 5, 1949], No. 25595 / 49. Classes 113 (ii) and 114. A double ended ferry with hinged landing ramps 1, 2, has four rudders, each carried by a sponson 13 projecting from the vessel's side. The tiller arms are operated by worms 18 to give movement in one direction on the rudders at one end and opposite movement on those at the other, the worm shafts 19, 20 being cross-connected by a shaft 25. Steering wheels 28 are arranged on both worm shafts.
