Abstract

661,259. Machines for making concrete pipes. BILDT, K. A. Dec. 20, 1949, No. 32617/49. Class 87(ii) Relates to machines for manufacturing concrete pipes of the kind in which the pipes are formed in a mould resting with its bottom end upon a vibration table and composed of an inner cylindrical core and an outer substantially cylindrical form which is exposed to vibrations at its top end other than those emanating from the vibration table, and consists in a vibrator at the top end of the mould movable in guides 21 to or from the mould and in means 38-41, or 43, 44 for detachably securing the vibrator to the outer form 12 in contact with the form. The core 16 is received in an opening in the flange 10 of a conical ring 9 which rests on the vibration table 8, and the outer form 12 rests by its enlarged bottom end on a flange 11 on the ring 9 and is secured by links 13 with ends hooked round the flange 11 and a flange 15 on the form 12. The guides 21 are fixed to a frame 20 at the side of the vibration table and comprise rails for wheels on a frame 23 which carries an electric motor and a vibrator driven by belts therefrom. The vibrator comprises a sleeve 28 surrounding a shaft 29 which carries an eccentrically loaded disc 30, this disc being provided at one side with a series of threaded bores whereby the eccentric load can be adjusted by inserting threaded pins in the bores. The vibrator is carried between the shanks 27 of a U-shaped yoke bolted at 26 to the frame 23 with the inclusion of a rubber disc 33 to damp the transmission of vibrations to the frame. Two T-sectioned irons 18 are secured to the flange 15 and to a flange 17 at the top end of the form 12 From each end of the U-shaped yoke there projects a pin 35 with a tapered end to engage a conical bore in an iron 18, and there also projects a plate 36 of which the vertical edge 37 meets an iron 18. 38 are links swingably mounted on the yoke and 39, 41 are the shorter and longer arms of a two-armed lever, the arm 39 having a tapered end to engage a recess 40 in an iron 18. This linkage device can be brought into position for holding the vibrator against the form 12 by a handle on the arm 41. In an alternative means for detachably securing the vibrator to the form 12, Fig. 5, the yoke has two vertical plates 42 forming an obtuse angle with each other and kept in contact with the form 12 by means of a device comprising two links 43 swingably mounted on the yoke and interconnectable round the form by means of a self-locking, swingable handle 44 of any suitable type.
