Abstract

323,310. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Willshaw, H., and Norcross, T. Nov. 10, 1928. Addition to 285,103. Vulcanizing-moulds; presses.-The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by the addition of a device by which the opening of the moulds takes place in a predetermined order. A 'central chest 1 supported by brackets 2 on a base 3 has on each side a chest, 10, 11 the whole being held together by a bar 17 acting through springs 35. In the end 18 of the bar is journaled an eccentric 19 on a shaft 20 supported by the chest 10 and having a handle 25. When the handle is turned in a clockwise direction the bar 17 moves to the right, and through the bridge 32 and bolts 38 separates the chests 1 and 11. Further movement of the handle brings a stop 52 into contact with a part 51 of a clamp uniting the chests 1 and 10 and unhooks the clamp. A bolt 45 carried by the bar now engages a projection 46 on the chest 1 so that further rotation of the shaft 20 breaks the chest 10 from the chest 1. The bar 17 is then lifted through a slot out of engagement with the bridge 32 so that the chests 10, 11 may be moved manually to open them further. The chests 10, 11 are pivotally mounted as shown upon arms 6 hinged upon a vertical spindle mounted in brackets integral with the frame 2.
