Abstract

285,103. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Willshaw, H., and Norcross, T. Oct. 7, 1926. Moulding indiarubber; mould-opening devices. -Pressure is applied to apparatus for moulding or vulcanizing small rubber articles by means of eccentric or toggle mechanism acting on a spring or like resilient medium. Hinged moulds 1, 2, with cavities 1c, 1d, 1e and 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f, respectively for the passage of heating medium, are pressed together by the operation of a handle 6 which rotates a shaft 9 on which are mounted eccentrically links 7 having jaws 7a which engage a beam 7b spanning a .spring 8, mounted on blocks 8a on the mould 2. Operation of the handle 6 in the opposite direction causes the lower jaw on the link 7 to bear on the beam 7b, pressing it against abutments on upstanding rods on the mould 2 (not shown), and forcing the mould sections apart. The article is removed from the mould bv means of a pedal-operated rod 12 which passes through the lower mould 1.
