PAUL THOMAWN, OF HALLE-ON-THE-SAALE, GERMANY.
BRICK-PRESS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb: 26, 1907.
Application filed June 22, 1905. Renewed anuary 8. 1907. Serial No. 351,394.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL THOMANN, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Halleon-theSaale, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brick- Presses, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in brick-presses and the object of the invention is to provide a simple, durable, and eflicient form of press. I
The invention includes the features of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter. described, and particularly set forth in the appended claim.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which Figure 1 is a sectional elevation. a detail plan view.
Referring byreference characters to the drawings, the numeral 3 designates a suitable frame, on which are journaled a pair of drums 4 and 5, over which passes an endless moldconveyer band 6. This, however, is shown only in dotted lines, as it forms no part of the present invention.
The moldsmove over a mold-supporting table 7, supported by the frame 3. Above this table is supported a hopper a for the material, the hopper being held spaced sufficiently above the table to permit the molds to pass under the hopper and being held or supported by side brackets a. The front of the hopper is closed by a movable slide h, which is operated in a suitable manner by the lever g and link 9, connecting said lever to the slide. Lever g is provided with a Weight 8, and said lever is operated from wheel 9, having tappets 1O thereon, by means Fig. 2 is of a reciprocating rod having a tappet 12 thereon, which is engaged by the tappets 10, and a two-armed lever 13, having one arm connected to the rod 11 and its other arm connected by link g to the lever 9. Directly in front of slide h is a stamp or plunger d, having its rod held in suitable guides c and e and its upper portion pressed upon by a spring (I. The plunger is raised against the tension of the spring by the arms f on the shaft f, driven by suitable means, such as belt-pulley and belt. (Indicated in dotted lines.)
Preferably I arrange a plurality of stamps side by side, as indicated in plan in Fig. 2, so as to operate on the material contained in a plurality of molds at once.
Adjoining the stamps is a scraper i, serving to smooth the material filled into-the molds. 1
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is---- A brick-press comprising a hopper, a vertically-movable slide closing the front of the hopper, a passage beneath said hopper, a mold in said passage, means for moving the mold, a scraper forming with the slide a guideway, a stamper adapted to move in said guideway, a spring tending to press said stamper downwardly and a cam for raising the stamper.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PAUL TI-IOMANN.
Witnesses RUDOLPH FRIoKE, S. P. WARNER.
