660,474. Inductances. EKCO-ENSIGN ELECTRIC, Ltd., and STICKLEY, W. A. Feb. 16, 1950 [Feb. 17, 1949], No. 4320/49. Classs 38 (ii) A choke coil assembly for discharge lamp circuits comprises a preferably laminated magnetic core 2 surrounded by one or more ribs 3 wound on a former 1, a tubular container 4 of magnetic material forming a flux return path, and end closure members 6 of wound strip magnetic material movable on assembly, prior to the introduction of a solidifying dielectric, to regulate the coil characteristics. The container 4 and closure members 6 mav have a crosssection other than circular, e.g. rectangular, and at least one of the latter has a hollow boss 7 for connection leads. Inserts 5 build up the flux return path to the required area.
