659,658. Automatic temperature control systems. CONTINENTAL SILVER CO., Inc. June 10, 1949, No. 15504. Convention date, June 17, 1948. [Class 38 (iv)]. A temperature control system for an electric heating receptacle, e.g. a coffee pot, comprises a heater 11 fed through two paths 28, 19, each including a thermostat 32, 22, respectively, responsive to the temperature of the liquid in the receptacle, the thermostat 22 operating at a lower value than the thermostat 32. Initially current is supplied via both paths to the heater 11 but on the attainment of a first predetermined temperature the path 19 is broken by the thermostat 22, heating continuing via the path 28 until a predetermined maximum temperature is reached, the heater being then de-energized completely by thermostat 32. Thermostat 32 is restrained from reconnecting the heater as the liquid in the receptacle cools by means of an auxiliary heater 55 which becomes energized upon the breakage of the path 28. The liquid therefore cools to the first predetermined temperature, and is then maintained at that temperature by the action of the thermostat 22. A pilot lamp 39 is connected across the heater 35 for indicating when the maximum temperature has been reached.
