658,567. Liquid disinfecting devices. HARBORNE, T. L., NORMAN, H: W., and OSMOTAS, Ltd. April 14, 1949, No. 10150. [Class 81(i)] A device for immersion in a storage tank or other vessel for adding a deodorant or like solution to a liquid in said tank, comprises an imperforate diffusing pot having a porous wall surrounded by an outer non- porous wall to form an intervening chamber between the surrounding wall and the porous wall, said chamber being in communication with the interior of the tank or other vessel by means of an opening at a position substantially level with the top of the porous wall. As shown, a porous diffusing pot 1 containing a deodorant 2 has a lid 3 sealed in position 4 and a vent 5 and is housed in a non-porous surrounding jacket 6, thus providing a chamber 7 which is open to the exterior through the mouth 8. In a modification (not shown), the inner duffusing pot is integral with the outer jacketting jar the lid covers the mouths of both receptacles and ports communicating with the intervening chamber are provided near the top of. the jacket or in the lid. The device may also consist of a non-porous pot divided into two compartments by a porous wall. Specifications 443,847 is referred to.
