Abstract

Purified crude plantation rubber is obtained by treating natural rubber latex, which may contain preservatives and antioxidants to one or more creaming, centrifuging, dialysing or electro-decanting processes, forming the thus purified latex into a foam with or without an added volatile base soap, in the absence of gelling or setting agents and the usual compounding ingredients, and sheeting and drying the foam. Drying is preferably effected at 50-75 DEG C. The soap may be an ammonium, or a mono- or di-methyl or ethyl amine oleate, stearate, palmitate or abietate and the latex may be foamed in the apparatus of Specification 541,289, [Group XXI]. After foaming the latex may be sheeted by the apparatus of Specification 572,166.
