[Class 38(i)] [Also in Group XL (a)] The re-entrant end of the discharge lamp of Figs. 1 or 8 may be filled with sealing wax or a thermoplastic substance, Figs. 1, 12 (not shown). In Fig. 2, the base is a synthetic synthetic resin, indurated fibre, glass, or metal disc 20a sealed to the end cavity. by thermoplastic or cement 26; the central portion of the disc 20a is thickened and holds, the terminal pins 21, 21 and has a hole 29 to accommodate the exhaust tube 24. If the disc 20a is of metal the pins 21, 21 are insulated therefrom, or at least from one another. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the thickened central portion of the disc is formed by placing a disc of smaller diameter on top of a disc of larger diameter. Both ends of the lamp may have a similar structure.
