Abstract

656,898. Drying air. AGRICULTURAL & INDUSTRIAL DRYERS, Ltd. April 6,1949, No. 10414/48. [Class 34(i)] [Also in Group X] In apparatus for producing warm dry air the air passes in sequence over the expansion coil 3 of a compression type refrigerating system, where the moisture condenses, over a heat exchanger 4 where the temperature of the air is raised and over the condenser coil 6, of the refrigerator, where it is further heated, the heat exchanger being 'supplied with a fluid at atmospheric temperature but independent of the air to be dried and warmed. The air is drawn through the - apparatus by a fan 2 which may be driven from a prime mover 7 which drives the refrigerator compressor. The heat exchanger 4 is supplied with atmospheric air by a fan 5 or with water at ambient temperature. An auxiliary electric heater 9 may be provided, or the air may be further heated by passing through the radiator or over the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine or over an electric motor driving the refrigerating compressor.
