[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 31, 1947.] [Class 146 (i)] A card-index system comprising cards 1 arranged in groups in a casing 14 between rigid spacers 4 which rock about axes 9 on bearing means 11 in the casing, the cards 1 being maintained in overlapping relation by means' of tongues 2 on the cards engaging between bars 3 on the bottom of the casing, has the axes 9 located in the same horizontal plane as the actual bearing points of the cards. The spacers 4 have hinge rods 9 which engage openings in angle bars 11 and are provided at the top with a reinforcement such as a folded metal sheet or an angled bar so that it provides a spacing between successive spacers to allow for the thickness of a group of cards 1. A reference indicator 8 may slide between the spacer top and the reinforcement. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a spacer having a curved or triangular shaped lower end with spaced holes to position the cards 1 in overlapping formation, the group of cards being removable with the spacer. In a modification, the card tongues fit in holes in spacer members fitting into the curved lower end of the spacer. The Specification further comprises a suspension folder device which acts as a spacer for cards and has a bar near the bottom of the folder with holes for the card tongues 2, the spacer having no hinge pins 9 but suspension bars by which it can slide on horizontal rails. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
