855,072. Indexing books. AKAO, Y. Dec. 11, 1956 [Dec. 23, 1955 ; Jan. 19, 1956(2) ; Feb. 11, 1956], No. 37784/56. Class 16. A book 1, Fig. 1, has vertically spaced groups 5 of horizontal or vertical lines printed on the free ends 4 of the leaves to indicate sections of the book and an index sheet 7, Fig. 3, on both side edges of both faces of which are printed section indicia 8 at the same vertical position as the corresponding groups 5 of lines on the free ends of the leaves. In use, the sheet 7 is inserted in the book at random, the group of lines horizontally aligned with the indicium denoting the required section on the sheet 7 is found and the book is opened at that part. An indicium 6 may be printed on each page 3 to denote the section to which it belongs, and groups of vertical lines may be substituted for the horizontal lines shown.
