[Class 26] [Also in Group XXIX] A waste valve for domestic sinks &c. is permanently arranged in the waste pipe and has a head portion 27a with a stem 27b projecting through the wall of the pipe and coupled to an operating device mounted on the rear wall of the sink. As shown, the head is seated by the pressure of the water in the sink and in an elbow 13 of the waste pipe, and is opened by pushing the knob 42 acting through a lever 33 pivoted at 34 and connected by the link 32 and the valve stem. In another embodiment the valve is spring-loaded to close. In a further embodiment the valve is closed by spring-loaded pins 60, Fig. 3, and opened by pulling a knob acting through a Bowden wire 33.
