Abstract

655,899. Injection - moulding machines. MONROE AUTO EQUIPMENT CO. July 14, 1948, No. 18952. Convention date, May 6. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] Plastic material, e.g. rubber, injected through an opening 17 in the centre of the mould, is forced through a gate 21 into runners 23 and mould cavities 13. When the material reaches a runner 32 it passes therethrough into a recess 33 in mould plate 7 and depresses a plunger 37 in which is held a rod 41 connected to a switch 45, the switch being thereby operated to stop further injection into the mould. When the mould is opened a coil spring 47 restores the plunger, rod and switch to their initial positions, the plunger being so formed as to force material out of the recess and thus prevent clogging thereof. The mould shown is for making rubber articles having a central hole therethrough, and comprises three plates 7, 9, 11, the plates 7 and 9 co-operating to form the mould cavities and the plate 11 carrying core pins 25 which form the central holes.
