Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a molding apparatus which is used to produce a molded article of a synthetic resin possible broken at the time of mold opening and which has an undercut portion in the vicinity of an end portion of a molded article, by designing the mold such that, during a mold opening step, an actuator block is fitted into a recess in a slide core to open the mold by the wedging effect and allow a molded article to be withdrawn easily.
CONSTITUTION: When a step of loading a plastic article has been completed, a mold opening operation is started. At this time, a stationary mold 3 and a slide core 5 are separated at a mold joint surface B therebetween by the force of a spring 15 so that a movable mold mount plate 6 is moved backwardly with a molded article 8a. When the mount plate 6 and molded article 8a have been moved backwardly to a sufficient extent to withdraw the molded article 8a, the mount plate 6 alone is further moved in the backward direction. At this time, a pin 11 attached to the mount plate 6 is also backwardly moved to allow an actuator block 12 to be fitted into a recess 13 in the slide core 5. The recess 13 is opened to such an extent that corresponds to the width L of the actuator block 12, i.e. a distance at which an undercut portion is removed, to move the slide core 5 in the direction of arrows (b). The molded product 8a naturally drops after a core pin 7 has been removed therefrom.
