[Class 65(i)] [Also in Group XXX] In a power-operated mechanism for the gate of a lift car including a coupling device for connecting the car gate to the gate at any landing and locking means for each landing gate mechanical means, using th( gate motor as the source o: power, are provided for opera tion of the coupling device and the locking means when the car gate is stationary. In the embodiment shown, a reversible electric motor drives a sprocket 8, carrying an endless chain 12 having a pin 20 which engages between two members 22 on the car gate. The chain also has pins 21, 21<1> to actuate slides 28, 30 which operate stopping and reversing switches for the motor. The slide 28 is connected by a Bowden cable 69 to a mechanism for withdrawing a cam from engagement with an arm which, when actuated by the cam, locks the landing gate, and it is also connected by a wire 49 passing over a pulley to a vertically slidable member 46 by means of which a rod 31 on the car gate is lifted to retract a coupling member from engagement with a socket on the landing gate when the gates are closed; the slide 28 is moved, at the beginning of the door opening movement, from the dotted to the full line position, and is returned to its right-hand position, when allowed to do so by the movement of the chain 12, by the weight of the members connectea to it, while the slide 30 is returned to the left by a spring. A member 82 on the car gate actuates a member 80 to open a switch in the main lift motor circuit when the gate is opened. Specification 584,343 is referred to.
