Abstract
654,582. Cylinder board-making machines &c. SALVANESCHI, P. Jan. 28, 1948, No. 2589. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1942. [Class 96] In the production of fibro - cement boards &c. a slurry is supplied at 6 to a flow-box 23, some of the walls of which may be vibrated, the box 23 supplying the surface of a forming cylinder which is under suction applied through pipes a &c. to a portion of its surface. The upper surface of the material on the forming cylinder is vibrated and compacted by beams &c. pivoted at 26, 34, and oscillated by eccentrics 30, 38. There may be ribs 39 on the cylinder 40 or on a travelling band, which passes under a flexible seal 24, the ribs dividing the web into sheets of the required size. Transverse cuts may be made by automatic shears, a carborundum wheel or a bandsaw. Multiple-ply webs of the same or different mixtures may be made by superposing layers of slurry thus formed. The cylinder or travelling band may be cleaned by a revolving brush and water spray. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), the cylinder 40 encloses a suction-box with the usual approximately radial walls.
