Abstract

230,078. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon. Feb. 27, 1924, [Convention date]. Jet apparatus.-In boring rock &c. by abrasive material conveyed at high speed by water under pressure, the abrasive material is introduced into the jet of water from within the latter at or near the point of advance and in the same direction as the jet; the jet is of such shape that the abrasive material must pass through it before escaping outwards. In Fig. 1, water emerges from the pipe 1 in a single jet and the abrasive material 3 is carried with it. In Fig. 2, several jets 2 are provided, the abrasive medium 3 being supplied through passages 4 between the jets. The jet or jets may be of circular, square, annular or other section.
