[Class 81(i)] In a vaporizer of the kind in which a web of absorbent material impregnated with a vaporizable substance is fed continuously through a localized heating zone, the web, after passing through the vaporizing heating zone, is wound on a take-up spindle. According to one modification, Fig. 3, paper impregnated with propylene glycol is fed from a supply roll 33, under an idler 19, over an internally electrically heated and electrically driven heater roll 15, under an idler 20, to a take-up bobbin 36 which is frictionally driven by a roll 21. The vapours escape through an opening 40 in the cover 39 which exposes the top half of the heated roll. According to a modification, Fig. 6, impregnated webbing is fed from a supply roll 60, between rolls 53, 53<1>, transversely across an electrically heated conduit between vertically extending spaced parallel plates 52, 52<1>, between rolls 54, 54<1> to a take-up bobbin 62. The conduit is electrically heated from below. Roll 54<1> and bobbin 62 are driven. The supply roll may be replaced by a strip of webbing compacted in zig-zag arrangement. Other glycols such as tri-ethylene glycol may be used and the glycols may contain a proportion of water. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a modification wherein the impregnated strip is fed from a pack formed by folding the strip in zigzag configuration, the strip being continuously drawn from the pack under an idle roll, over a heated roll, under a second idle roll by means of a friction driven roll and co-operating pressure roll, and the depleted strip issuing between the two lastmentioned rolls being torn off and discarded. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
