Abstract
654,135. Wave-guides. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 4, 1948, No. 31426. [Class 40 (viii)] A connector for an electromagnetic waveguide comprises a pair of flanged members adapted to be connected to lengths of wave-guide and associated with means for coupling the members and a washer provided with projections on either side which engage recesses in the opposed face of the flanged member so as to maintain them in position. Flanged members 1, 2, Fig. 1, brazed or soldered to the ends of the guides, are provided with recesses 11, Fig. 3, to engage pins 8, Fig. 1, passing through a washer of hard brass or phosphor bronze 5 and secured to it by collars and rings 9, 10. The longer sides of the aperture in the washer are provided with splayed fingers 7, Figs. 1 and 2, to ensure contact between the washer and flanged members. The flanged members are held together by screw-threaded collars 12, 13, Fig. 1, which have inwardly directed annular shoulders 16, 17 engaging the flanged members, which are provided with flats 18, Fig. 3, to enable the collars to be removed. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement in which the shoulders of the collars do not engage the flanged members, but engage split collars which engage the flanged members. Rubber rings may be provided in annular grooves in the flanged members or between pairs of split collars to provide a water-tight joint. The flanged members may be provided with choke grooves to prevent leakage.
