Abstract
653,650. Domestic sieves. BUNCE, W. J. June 17, 1949, No. 7473/48. [Class 117] A domestic sieve has an external flange 4 in the form of a flat ring located and secured intermediate of its height between an external rib 8 on the sieve wall and tongues of which are upset from said wall. The flat ring may be passed up over the sieve from the bottom thereof and secured in place by outwardly displacing tongues 9 already cut from the sieve wall. The rib 8 may be pressed out from the sieve wall. When used in combination with a container 1 such as a dustbin on which the flange 4 is adapted to rest and a lid 2 is adapted to engage externally over the container 1 when the sieve is not in position, the sieve wall has a diameter considerably less than the diameter of the container mouth and lid rim and a depth above the sieve flange 4 such as to contact, as shown at 5, with the underside of the lid while the rim of the lid is supported on the flange 4.
