Abstract

653,556. Mats. CAMER, H. E. Dec. 15, 1948, No. 32444. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1947. [Class 142(iv)] [Also in Group XXI] A flexible mat to cover objects to be demolished by blasting comprises a number of transversely curved elongated strips 1 cut from the tread portions of pneumatic tyres arranged in two superposed layers so that the transverse edges of one layer abut against the interior centre portions of the members in the other layer. The two layers are interconnected by flexible ropes 2 which are threaded alternately up and down through holes provided near the outer longitudinal edges of the strips. Each end of the ropes is formed as a handle 3. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of strips of transmission belt, and states that the mat may be composed of one or more than two layers of strips. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
