Abstract

653,275. Measuring-tapes. LOQUENS, K. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34588. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1946. [Class 106 (ii)] A steel tape measure acting as a coiling spring enters a box 2 by a slot and is attached to a pin 3 riveted to the box between its centre and the wall opposite the slot on the diameter joining the centre .and slot and tends to uncoil and occupy the whole box, drawing the free end in. When the tape is pulled out in use it coils more tightly round the pin 3 and to retain the part outside a brake is provided comprising a pin 5 urging a spring 6 against a bushing 4 which urges the tape against the side of the slot. When the bushing 4 is pressed the pressure on the tape is released and it springs back into the box.
