[Class 120(ii)] A thread-advancing reel comprises two cylindrical cage-like members each having a plurality of longitudinally extending circumferentially spaced thread supporting bars with the bars of one cage-like member positioned between the bars of the other member, means for mounting the members for rotation about axes that are eccentric to each other, the means on which the one member is mounted being rotatable about the axis of the other members and gravitational or magnetic means for holding the rotatable mounting means stationary. The reel comprises one set of bars 2 attached to the flanges 3, 4 and driven by a gear 8 and a shaft 5, and a second set of bars 21 carried by disc members 26a freely rotatable on hubs 35 having cylindrical or other surfaces of revolution offset and canted with respect to the axis of the shaft 5 and kept at rest by attachment to a tubular member 23 free on the shaft 5 and furnished with a pendulum weight 33. The shaft 5 is carried in bearings 11, 12 in frame members 9, 10, and a rubber &c. sleeve 28 prevents the entrance of treating fluid to the inner parts of the reel. To allow for the skew movement of the bars 21 with respect to the discs 26a, the attachment between them is formed by screws 31 taking into rubber cushions 32. In a modification, Fig. 4, the first cage member comprises bars 41 attached to a flange member 42, driven by a gear 46 and shaft 44, the second cage members 48, 49 being rotated by the first cage member in a bearing 54, disposed eccentrically and canted with respect to the shaft 44 and carried by a stationary tubular member 51 freely rotatable in bearings 53 on the shaft 44 and provided with a pendulum weight 55.
