Abstract

652,180. Platform covers. ATLAS-UNION SHOE CO., Ltd., and ATLAS, A. May 13, 1949, No. 13698/48. [Class 17(ii)] A platform cover 2 is secured at its inner edge 2a by the lockstitching 4 which secures the out-turned edge 1a of an upper 1, the edge 6a of a sock lining 6 and a platform sole 3. The cover is turned over on itself and stuck beneath the platform sole and an outsole 7 attached. A sponge rubber filling 5 is inserted and, if desired, the platform heightened by a filling or sole secured below the platform sole 3 and also covered by the cover 2. A wedge or internal heel may be provided and the upper out-turned only at the forepart, the heel being finished as in Specification 549,812.
