Abstract
651,507. X-ray tubes. POITTEVIN, M. Nov. 22, 1946, No. 6772/49. Divided out of 651,455 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 16, 1947. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In an X-ray tube a straight filament is contained in a recess in a focusing member, the recess having a circular curvature whose centre is located on or near the front surface of the anticathode, and the focusing member having a face plane or curved relative to the anticathode. A linear focus whose major dimension is perpendicular to the plane containing the curved axis of the recess, is obtained. The filament may comprise a helix or simply a wire. The filament-anticathode distance may be adjusted by rotation of the anticathode along a screw shaft by means of a rotating magnetic field. Alternatively a corrugated metal tube inserted in the envelope proper, or in a stem supporting the filament structure, may be expanded or contracted. The anticathode may be trunco-conical or pyramidal with a circular or polygonal face. Specification 651,455 is referred to.
