Abstract
650,968. Injection - moulding machines. COULTHARD & CO., Ltd., W., and COULTHARD, W. Feb. 11, 1948, No. 3936. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] In a die-casting or injection-moulding machine, the fixed and movable dies or bolster plates therefor have means from which are suspended the cylinder or container for the material and the ram by which the material is forced into the dies. The injection cylinder 20 is formed in the cover-plate 23 of a compressed air cylinder 17, the piston 18 of which drives the injection ram 19. The cover-plate 23 is formed with lugs 29 through which pass pins 31 by which the injection cylinder and the driving cylinder 17 are suspended from bolster plates 34, 36 which carry die parts 22, 21 respectively and which are in turn carried by fixed and movable die carriers 11 and 13. The heads of the pins are fixed in the bolster 34 and the moving bolster 36 is formed with sleeved holes 35 by which it slides along the other ends of the pins. The die carrier 13 is moved to and away from the carrier 11 by means of compressed air under manual control. A compressed air supply to pipes 24, 26 to operate the piston 18 is also under manual control.
